Help with S16DG118 - M620 on IAW59M

Post by antonye »

Hi

I am trying to turn the immo off on an IAW59M with S16DG118 for a M620.
I am using writer v314c and after writing, Diag gives me the usual "ECU Stored" when checking immo status.

However, on the bike the immo light stays on and the bike will not start.

This is not the first time this has happened with the S16DG118 software on other bikes.
It also seems that I cannot use a different software on the IAW59M as these too will not unlock/start the bike.
I have successfully used an IAW5AMHW610 with an unlocked ECU to start other bikes, but this has not worked on this particular M620.

Does anyone have any experience with getting S16DG118 to unlock, or with an alternative software version that works with a bike expecting S16DG118?

Thanks

If it write ecu stored ,immo is disabled 100%
The immo light may still on yes , but that’s not the dashboard who decide it’s the ecu . Dashboard kept saying to the ecu immo is active , ecu don’t listen it

Your issue is elsewhere

On older bike there where also an immo box , can you confirm if the antenna is connected directly to the dash or to an other device ?

Thanks JP, I didn't check for the immo box as I though they were only on the S4s and ST range.

I'll have another look and see what happens. I may also disconnect the clocks as I have had other bikes running without them connected, a popular mod in the Desmo Due Race Series where they remove the IMMO and then use aftermarket clocks.

I will update this thread once I've had another play :)

Yes with immo off you can remove dashboard
Ecu don’t care if dash is here or not

I’m not saying there is an immo box but as the bike is quite. Old we never knows

I would test if ignition and injectors are working with test menu
The starter itself with its fuses and relay

And also the top dead Sensor

The immo light stays on after key-on, so the dash thinks it is immobilised!

yes but if immo is disabled into the ecu , that's not an issue.

have you tried to shortcut the starter relay to make the engine crank ?

for me it's normal the immo led stay activated on the dash .
you patch the ecu , not the dash , and the dash itself cannot avoid the bike to start , it send an info to the ecu to not allow the bike to start.
but as the ecu is patched it don't care what the dash is saying.

concerning the live status , it's possible they are not really accurate , it works for the 90% of bike . i already saw some bike with different behaviors on the status

I have tried jumping the starter solenoid and the engine turns.
There is no signal going from the ECU to the starter solenoid.
The wiring from the ECU to the starter is good.

I have tried many other software versions for both 59M and 5A (both HW103 and HW610) but none appear compatible in Diag as the inputs (clutch, gear, stand, killswitch) show incorrect combinations for these which will not allow the engine to start (eg clutch disengaged, gear engaged). There is no clutch switch in this wiring loom.
