2014 Multistrada 1200s can't reset oil light

Good afternoon, I bought a 2014 multistrada 1200s touring last weekend. the dealer has completed the Desmo/Oil service but was unable to reset the oil service light.
they're looking into it, but to be honest i want to be able to do it myself.
I got the recommended cables and was able to get the vin and my license code.

unfortunately i'm still unable to reset the oil service light. i can pull codes and see information from the bike.

I expect this is down to the system not being able to see Bike, ECU Type, & hardware version.

I've tried with a windows 10 and a windows 11 laptop, both running in Administrator mode.
I've tried with the kill switch on and off, I've taken the battery off the bike to reset the ECU and no change.

when i send the reset code, the bike revs show as 1000 for a moment and a pump starts for a second (Fuel?)

I'm out of ideas what else to try. what do you recommend?

you shall try to change the bike type to 2 and try reset again

Can you please send me those instructions also to change the bike type to two I will be resetting my friends multi Strada 2015 later and it is the same generation as this thread

Hi, I've just attempted this and unfortunately still hasn't reset the. I tried before connecting to the bike, and again after connecting to the bike.
the computer now beeps twice but the bike no longer shows 1000 revs.

is there anything else i can try?

I successfully reset the Demso on a 2015 Multistrada tonight. No issues.

Hi all

I'm still having issues with doing the reset on my bike.

Hopefully you can see where i'm going wrong.

my bike just shows oil service, but no mileage, as the service book shows. does this mean it's an annual service? or could it mean something totally different?

Connect cables
Open Melcodiag on computer
turn ignition on bike
connect to bike.
go into menu and change number next to bike to 2, then press bike
reset menu has changed.
click oil service & let it cycle.

no change.

I have tried the same with annual service, but this seems to do nothing. no flashing lights on cable.

is it worth changing the bike type to another number? is there a risk in this?

it's strange if you have no flash lights
buttons are well enabled ?

Yes, the buttons seem to be enabled. if i run it in bike mode 1, i get flashing lights and the computer beeps. the bike fires up the fuel pump for a second and the dash shows 1000 revs for a second.

i'm not entirely sure if i should be pressing oil service or annual service as my screen doesn't show a mileage. the link below should show a photo of my dash.

the dealer that sold me the bike, which isn't a ducati dealer could not reset this with their equipment, but i'm not sure what hardware they have. could there be other underlying issues?

something in your process shall be wrong , cause you shall see the led blinking when you press the service button

I've tried again a few more times. my mistake, the lights on the cable are flashing.
unfortunately when bike is set to 2, the bike doesn't seem to react to the signal being sent at all. i've tried Annual service & Service interval.
I took the bike for a ride at the weekend to see if that helped, and disconnected the battery for 24 hours.

when the bike is set to 1, and service interval is clicked the fuel pump seems to start up and the dash shows 1000 revs for a moment.

any ideas what to try?
I must be making a mistake somewhere.
