Hello. I have been trying to connect Melcodiag and M3C9 to my Monster 1100 EVO to reset service wrench. Used 2 different laptops with Windows 10, Lonelec 4 pin cable and ELM 327 which should have correct chip, pic18f24k80. I know the right COM port number also and have tested with diffrent COM:s and different speeds. Tested probably some 20 times and always get this message "can´t init elm, check your settings com number and com speed".
Could it be problem that i have a PC V in the bike that disturbs the connection, or problem with something else like the cable. The red light on the ELM is lit when connected and the next green flashes slowly.

It´s ELM327 V1.4. Com 6 in one of the PC:s, Com 3 in the other so they should be correct.

Today i borrowed a Windows 11 PC. Downloaded Melcodiag and exactly the same problem "cannot initiate ELM". Using correct COM and tried different speeds.

OK, thanks. Will test on cars. Tested both M3C and Melcodiag many times. Also downloaded and installed M3C as a separate program but same result. I will fly to Tenerife tomorrow so further testing has to wait 3 weeks.
I am quite sure it must be a defect ELM cable so if you have a link to a cable that is known to work, please inform me. I bought the 4 pin cable from Lonelec in Britain but their ELM is out of stock.
Thank you for your help so far.
