Functionality of JPDiag's paid version - some questions

Hi,
Apologies if this has been covered before. I have a Brutale 1078rr (2009 model) with a IAW 5SM ECU. The Brutale is fantastic, but the notoriously snatchy on/off throttle is a pain. I really enjoy working on my bikes and learning new things in the process, so at least for now I'm not going the more expensive Microtec, Rexxer, etc route to clean up the fueling and the ignition. Instead, I thought I'd try and find a way to get into the ignition and fuel maps myself to try and clean up the throttle response, lower the fan temperature, basically just play around and learn a few things in the process. I've done a fair amount of research and managed to download my OEM bin file from the ECU, got the correct .xdf file for it and have had a look at the maps in TunerPro. Where I got stuck was writing the updated bin back to the ECU. I'm not confident in the tools I'm using and even though I had someone correct the checksum, I'm afraid that I still might brick the ecu.
This brings me to my questions about JPDiag. From what I can see, the paid version can obviously read and write to the 5SM ECU reliaby and with no issues.
- Once it downloads the file from the ECU, I assume it puts it in a .ddg format as opposed to .bin, correct?
- So once I have downloaded the .ddg file, what am I actually able to do with it in the paid JPDiag version?
- What functionality is available in the paid version?
- Can I view and change maps, lower fan temp, etc?
- If not, then is there a software similar to TunerPro which works with the .ddg file (like TunerPro does with a .bin) and allows one to update fuel and ignition maps, so afterwards one can write the updated .ddg back to the ECU safely with the JPDiag writer?
- I assume if any changes are done to the .ddg file, the JPDiag writer automatically corrects the checksum before it writes it to the ECU?
Basically I'm looking for another route to be able to change the ignition and fuel maps a bit and then SAFELY write them to the ECU. I already have the correct cable set up and JPDiag can talk to the ECU, and do everything that is available in the free non-paid version.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.
