Hello all,
I am experiencing an issue with getting ECU data pulled off my 2022 Ducati Panigale V4S. I promise you I am not coming asking for help without having tried numerous self-fixes.
Initially, I tried using my OBDLink SX Cable https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-OBDLink ... t_ba_s_1_t with this Euro 5 Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D5VQ9F3G?ref=fed_asin_title. With this setup I could connect, and I would get the VIN, bike name properly displayed, software version, and incorrect mileage. It would read back "No ecu data" when I hit the "Get license" button.
I tried using ChatGPT to help me identify potential issues, had me conduct Powershell self-tests which confirmed the cable is working etc. but wouldn't return an "ELM" response just some "ATZ" response when pinging for information.
Because of this, I then ordered an ELM327 V1.4 cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08887TNBB?ref=fed_asin_title I found recommended on a Ducati forum and tried that. Same exact deal - this time it would connect at a different baud speed but same results - receive VIN, bike name, software version, incorrect mileage, and "no ecu data" when hitting "Get license."
I then re-watched the original videos I found, as well as found a couple new ones and read up on even more forums to find ANOTHER cable recommendation... this one being an ELM V1.5 Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MQ8GHG3?ref=fed_asin_title. Both of these ELM cables have reviews specifically pointing out Melcodiag and compatibility with Ducati so I thought surely this would be it. Before trying again THIS time, I went and downloaded the listed driver "CH340" for the cable, and read through the FAQ on JPDiag to find and update another driver for "CDM." Connected the bike up, and same exact problem. MelcoDiag has no issue connecting, and I receive VIN, bike name, software version, incorrect mileage, but still says "no ecu data" when hitting "Get license."
Despite this, I was able to actually submit an email for the license... but obviously my concern is that it won't be any good without that missing ECU data. The bike is tuned which may be a reason for this? I am not really sure. I have tried a lot and would appreciate any tips or advice, thanks!
EDIT: One difference I noticed actually - the OBDLink SX Cable says "Software version 22000000" whereas both the ELM327 cables say "Software version 5."

Re: "No ecu data" please help
obdlink is the best choice .
at least there is no clone , and the set of commands very complete.
i'mnot so much concerned with the no ecu data.
it may mean , i'm not sending the right command on this model to get all info listed
you can try to get the dtc if you have and try the reset commancds as the licence is activated.
the debug report could be usefull as well

Re: "No ecu data" please help
Hey! Thank you for the information - this whole time I was so worried about not having the ECU data haha.
I have received the license from you and managed to reset the Oil Service Light, however the Annual Service Light remains.
Any chance you can help me figure out how we can reset the Annual Service Light? I have tried doing it with all 3 of the cables I have to no avail.
Very happy that the Oil Reset Light worked though!

Re: "No ecu data" please help
you can try to put 1 more year on your laptop and try again
Re: "No ecu data" please help
Interesting, you mean put 1 more year further in advance on my PC Date and Time setting? I will give it a shot
Re: "No ecu data" please help
No luck, I set PC date 1 year in advance to 2026 and hit Annual Reset. Did not work. Report below:

Re: "No ecu data" please help
Not a 'fix' as such but it should remove the annoying service light. Just set the date on your bike back 1 year. Can still have correct day/month & time but just 1 year out and light should disappear.Zorikos wrote: Thu May 08, 2025 9:36 pm Interesting, you mean put 1 more year further in advance on my PC Date and Time setting? I'm in the same boat, trying to get MelcoDiag to reset annual service light but this is the workaround I've found in the meantime so I don't have to stare at the annoying light
I have a 2020 Ducati Diavel 1260
Re: "No ecu data" please help
Not ideal but yeah it does work, nice trick!
Hopefully in the future we can figure something out for getting it properly reset.
