Connection only lasts a few seconds

Post by DucBub »

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to reset the service light on my Streetfighter 848. It has an IAW5 ECU, and I'm using JPDiag.
I'm using the same setup I used a few years ago on my Hypermotard 796: an ELM327 interface with an adapter cable that worked fine back then.

The issue:
  • Ignition is on
  • correct COM port selected (tried both 9600 and 38400 baud rates)
  • JPDiag initially connects fine, but the ECU info screen stays blank
  • After a few seconds, the connection drops
I'm not sure why it's failing now—it worked perfectly in the past, although that was on a different laptop.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Tried again with 38400bds but still no success.

Thats the OBD interface I am using: https://www.lonelec.com/product/zoobek- ... ta-reader/
Looks like its a Winchiphead chipset as it shows a red led when connected via USB

Together with this 4-Pin adapter: https://www.lonelec.com/product/ducati- ... aptor-dda/

are you sure it's a winchiphead ?
lonelec usually use ftdi chip
if it's a wch , it maybe need to short obd pin and to power the elm . we had this issue on kkl cable with wcp chip before

I contacted lonelec today. Turns out the connector I’ve been trying to use only workss for data logging, despite being the same connector used on other Ducatis for OBD… The 848 has a 3 Pin connector, which means I need a different adapter and new OBD tool.

Thanks for your help! I got it working.

The problem was that I used the wrong port on my bike. This port however had the right pinout to power the OBD adapter with 12V, which probably caused the effect I had.

Using the 3-pin adapter, everything works now :D
